Tim Horton's is a clear winner in this category. "Tim's Own" Chicken Salad sandwich contains 380 calories and 9 grams of fat. This makes a great choice, and you'll still have some extra calories to spend on a healthy side like their Hearty Vegetable Soup (only 70 calories). Panera may boast freshly baked bread, but this sandwich is a dieter's nightmare: 740 calories, 27 grams of fat, and nearly twice the sodium (1,540 grams) as Tim's. Remember that Panera will allow you to make almost any substitution--change the bread, sauce, toppings and more to save calories and fat. Ditch those oversized breads and go for their simple, lower-calorie Tomato Basil or Whole Grain breads, and ask for dressings on the side.
